Who we are. Your Local Engineers Ltd, company number 12783419, registered at 186a Hermitage Road, London N4 1NN. You can reach us at info@yourlocalengineers.co.uk. We are the data controller for this site.

The calculators

The calculators run entirely in your browser. We do not ask you to sign in. The figures you type — meter readings, room measurements, anything else — are never sent to us. They stay on your device and we never see them.

This site runs no analytics of its own, carries no advertising network and no tracking pixel, and makes no third-party requests from your browser. Our host, Netlify, produces aggregate visitor counts from its own server logs — that never involves anything running on your device.

We set no cookies.

Two things are kept on your own device. Your radiator calculation is saved automatically in the browser or app you started it in, so you can come back to it; you can clear it at any time, and anything left untouched for a week clears itself. The gas rate calculator also keeps a running timing for up to thirty minutes, so it survives your phone closing the page. Neither is sent to us.

The feedback form

If you use the feedback form, that is different, and this is what happens to it.

What you give us. Your message, and what the message is about. If you want a reply, your email address — that field is optional and you can leave it blank. If you are a merchant enquiring about being listed, your business name, branch postcode and a contact name.

Why. To read what you told us and act on it, and to reply to you if you asked for a reply. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running and improving the service. If you tick the box asking to hear about new tools, our basis for that is your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time by emailing us.

Where it goes. Form submissions are handled and stored by Netlify, Inc., 512 2nd Street, Suite 200, San Francisco, CA 94107, who also host this site. Netlify processes the data on our instructions under their Data Processing Agreement. They are our only processor for this form. There is no database of our own behind it.

Leaving the UK. Netlify is a US company, so your submission is stored in the United States. That transfer relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension, to which Netlify is certified. If that framework ever ceases to apply, the transfer falls back to the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and the Standard Contractual Clauses, which form part of Netlify’s agreement with us.

How long we keep it. 12 months from the date you send it, after which we delete it. If you asked to hear about new tools, we keep your email address until you tell us to stop.

Server records. Like any website, ours is served by computers that keep short-lived technical logs, which include the IP address your request came from. Netlify keeps those as part of running the service. We do not use them to identify anyone and we do not combine them with anything else.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to us holding it. Email info@yourlocalengineers.co.uk and we will do it. There is no charge and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or call them on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you told us first so we can put it right, but you do not have to.

Changes

If what we do with your information changes, we will change this page and update the date at the top. We will not start collecting something new without saying so here first.
