Merchant partnerships
Some pages on this site carry a listing for a local merchant, labelled Advertisement — merchant partner. This page says what that means, who supplied the details, what we check and what we do not, and how to tell us when something on one is wrong.
A merchant cannot affect any calculation or result.
The figures are identical whether you arrive through a merchant’s link or come straight to the tool.
The calculators run entirely in your browser, on the figures you type. No merchant sees them, no merchant is consulted, and no merchant changes what comes back.
Where the details come from
The details in a listing are supplied by the merchant. Opening hours, telephone numbers, the address, what the branch stocks and which brands it carries are the merchant’s own statements about the merchant’s own business. We publish them; we do not audit them.
We do not check stock or availability. A listing is not a promise that anything is on a shelf. It says who to ask, not what they have. Ring, or send a parts list, and let the merchant tell you.
Check the published hours before travelling. The hours on a listing are the hours the merchant publishes. We do not compute or display whether a branch is open right now: half-days, bank holidays and temporary changes cannot be accounted for reliably, and a status that is wrong sends you on a wasted journey. The published hours are stated exactly as they were given to us.
What kind of arrangement this is
This is a commercial arrangement, and that is why every listing is labelled. It is a straight swap: the merchant keeps our cards at their counter and we list their branch here. No money changes hands in either direction, and neither side has exclusivity. If that ever changes — if any listing is ever paid for — it will require a separate written agreement and it will be disclosed separately and plainly, here.
We take no commission. If you buy anything from a merchant listed here, Your Local Engineers receives nothing — no share of the sale, no per-job fee, no referral payment. Nothing on this site earns us money when you spend yours.
We carry no advertising network, no tracking pixel and no third-party requests. Nothing on a listing is loaded from the merchant’s own site or from anyone else’s.
A parts list goes to the merchant, not to us. “Email your parts list” opens a message in your own email application, addressed to the merchant and ready for you to edit. You decide whether to send it. Your Local Engineers does not receive that email and does not see what is in it.
How merchants are selected
We list independent merchants who serve the areas our tools are used in, and who are willing to keep our cards at their counter. There is no ranking and no recommendation: a listing is not an endorsement, and appearing here does not mean we think one merchant is better than another. We have not compared prices, and we do not.
One merchant is listed today. Before a second one is, the rule that decides which merchant appears where will be published on this page — because with more than one listed, the order itself becomes a claim, and an unexplained order would read as a recommendation we have not made.
If something on a listing is wrong
Tell us and we will correct it. A wrong number or a stale opening time costs an engineer a journey, so this is the most useful message you can send about a listing.
Use the feedback form on the home page — there is one form for the whole site and this page does not carry a second one — or email info@yourlocalengineers.co.uk. Say which merchant and what is wrong. We correct confirmed errors within a reasonable time, and we will suspend a listing rather than leave inaccurate details up.
